Executive Director, Educational Non-Profit
Nicole's Statement
My name is Nicole Chiu-Wang, and I’m running as a North Star Progressive candidate for Assembly District 23. I am an activist, nonprofit leader, attorney, and parent dedicated to advancing equity and opportunity for all.
As Executive Director of an educational equity nonprofit, I work to close the opportunity gap for marginalized students and empower youth through leadership and service. I graduated from the EMERGE Candidate Training Program and ran for Palo Alto School Board to advocate for equity in public education.
I also serve as Co-President of the Palo Alto Chinese Parents Club. I am a board member for the Peninsula Democratic Club and the Silicon Valley Asian Pacific American Democratic Club. I am a member of the League of Women Voters Palo Alto Chapter, Democratic Activists for Women Now, NARAL Peninsula Leadership Circle, and Democrats for Public Education. I also volunteer with the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto and the South Palo Alto Food Closet.
A lifelong Democrat, I’ve championed political change since college, where I fought for equity and representation through voter registration drives, campaign work, grassroot organizing, and poll monitoring. As a bi-racial Asian American woman, my intersectional identity fuels my commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices and addressing systemic inequities.
My background as an attorney, small business entrepreneur, successful tech startup founder, Trust and Safety Lead at Google, and community leader has uniquely prepared me to represent Assembly District 23. I would be honored to earn your vote to fight for bold, progressive policies to advance equity, justice, sustainability, and opportunity for all.
